The Route: Coastal, Flat, and Fast

The KK marathon 2026 route is a runner’s dream, designed for personal records and breathtaking views of the Sabah shoreline.
The 21km Half Marathon Course
This route offers a grand tour of the city. Starting at Padang Merdeka, you’ll head toward the coast, passing the iconic Masjid Bandaraya (City Mosque). The turnaround point features a spectacular view of the sunrise over the South China Sea before you head back to the heart of the city.
The 11km Competitive Course
Designed for speed, the 11km route follows the scenic Tanjung Lipat coastal path. It features a shorter turnaround than the 21km but maintains the same breathtaking waterfront energy.

Training Tips: Mastering the Tropical Humidity

With the race just around the corner, your half marathon mindset needs to match the Sabah climate.
- Hydration is Key: With humidity often exceeding 80%, you must practice your hydration strategy now. Don’t skip the water stations on race day.
- Acclimatize to Heat: Try to perform at least one session a week in the mid-morning heat to prepare your body for the rising sun during the final kilometers.
- The 4:30 AM Routine: Start adjusting your sleep cycle. Practice waking up and fueling early to ensure your body is “awake” by the 4:30 AM (21km) or 5:30 AM (11km) flag-off.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best on the fast, coastal 11km path or embarking on the grand tour of the 21km Half Marathon, the Borneo Half Marathon 2026 is more than just a race – it’s a celebration of grit and coastal beauty. The road is set, the sunrise is waiting, and your finish line moment at Padang Merdeka is just a flag-off away. Lace up, train hard, and we’ll see you at the start line.
